Reflect: Do you find it is fairly easy or hard to the see the sacred subtext of your life? What have you noticed lately?
Fill your minds with the things of God
“Think about these things”
“Summing it all up friends, I’d say you’ll do best filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.”
Philippians 4:8 The Message
Do the things of God
“Keep on doing”
“Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into hi most excellent harmonies.”
Philippians 4:9 The Message
God’s preference for the ordinary and routine…
Difference between expectations and expectancy…
How does it make you feel to know that God loves the ordinary and routine? What freedom can we find living into this reality?
Do you find yourself, most of the time, striving to meet expectations, or maintaining expectancy? What are some ways you could grow more in living with a sense of awe at God’s presence and action in your life?
What quiet miracles of having God at peace with you have been present in your life recently?
At Maywood, we offer several opportunities for learning and spiritual formation. Every Sunday we have an adult Sunday School class that meets at 9:15. Typically, this class explores different books in the Bible. The format is a combination of teaching and interaction.
Throughout the year, we also offer other opportunities to learn and grow. Our Wednesday night adult class focuses on how we can apprentice our lives to Jesus, and learn from him how he wants to transform us from the inside out.
There are also small group Bible studies offered during particular times of the year, as well as book reading groups, special seminars, and occasionally retreats for deeper reflection and prayer.
